Apostate (n) –a person who forsakes his religion, cause or party
Effusive (adj) –unduly demonstrative; lacking reserve
Impasse (n) –a position or situation from which there is no escape; deadlock
Euphoria (n) –a state of intense happiness and self-confidence
Lugubrious (adj) –formal, dismay or gloomly
Bravado (n) –a pretentious display of courage
Consensus (n) –general agreement; majority of opinion
Dichotomy (n) –subdivision into two parts
Constrict (v) –contract, shrink or to press in
Gothic (adj) -16th century; characterized by the use of the pointed arch and the ribbed vault, by the use of fine woodwork and stonework, by a progressive lightening of structure, and by the use of such features as flying buttresses, ornamental gables, crockets, and foils
Punctilio (n) –fine point, detailed, exactness
Metamorphosis (n) –a complete change of form, structure and substance
Raconteur (n) –a person skilled in telling stories
Sine qua non (n) –an indispensable condition, element or factor
Quixotic (adj) –extravagantly chivalrous, romantic, visionary, impractical
Vendetta (n) –any prolonged and bitter feud, rivalry, contention
Non sequitur (n) –a statement containing an illogical solution
Mystique (n) -an aura of mystery or mystical power surrounding a particular occupation or pursuit
Quagmire (n) –a situation from which extrication is very difficult
Parlous (adj) –perilous, dangerous

      1)      The apostate was severely shunned when he decided to convert.
      2)      The paper was far too effusive lacking quality rather than quantity.
      3)      It was clear that we were in an impasse situation realizing there was absolutely nothing we could do.
      4)      One will only reach euphoria when one is able to recognize and look past his or her own flaws and live for themselves rather than for pleasing others.
